WHY Grace Covenant Community Care (GCCC)?
GCCC is founded and run by one of my sister, pastor Ruth Kam and her husband, Joshua Ng. This ministry is very dear to my heart, not just because of my sister, but also because of their mission. Joshua and Ruth started the community service in 2003, and GCCC was officially registered in 2011. During the initial stage, its financial need was totally depended on Joshua and Ruth’s savings. They have gone through a very tough time as the center was drawing fast from their savings. Despite the difficulty, they held fast to their vision and pressed on. They named their first daughter “Connie”, which means “persistent and do not give up”.
GCCC is an organization that strive for the basic human rights and welfare for children and vulnerable groups. All of the children in GCCC came from broken families and they could become liability of the society if they are not educated. Through GCCC, these children are given a warm and healthy environment. As of 2014 there are over 70 children, ranging from 4 months to 18 years old living in GCCC. Ruth came up with a series of exclusive education system to provide the best education to each child.
For the past 10 years, the great achievement from Rush and Joshua has won them the Ten Outstanding Young Malaysian Award in 2010 and 2012 with contribution in children, world peace and human rights, making them the first couple to receive such honor. In 2013, Joshua was nominated and award with Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA). Ruth also won the 21st century “The Golden Phoenix Award”, which is created to recognize women’s excellent contribution as in business, entrepreneurship, social and humanitarian works.
GCCC truly makes a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities by offering their unconditional care and services. Words can’t express how proud I am to have such sister and brother-in-law, and words certainly can’t describe the great sacrifices they have made. We are deeply moved by their love and so proud to see how much the team has achieved. I am very blessed to be able to be part of this service!
